AN GIANG, Viet Nam (Viet Nam News/ANN) — Construction began Monday on the Tan An Bridge on a key transport route connecting the southern province of An Giang's Tan Chau Town and Cambodia's Phnom Penh via the Vinh Xuong International Border Gate.
The initiative is being implemented in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
The bridge, 612 metres in length and 12 metres wide, spans the Sang channel, linking the communes of Long An and Tan An.
It has total investment of VND572 billion (US$26 million) and is scheduled to be completed in late 2017.
Vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee Vo Anh Kiet said the bridge would shorten travel times by road and by water from the province to Cambodia, contributing to boosting local exports and economic development.
