PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald)—The United Nations has expressed admiration to Cambodia for having responded successfully to the spread of HIV/AIDS, reported the state news agency-AKP.
During a meeting with Cambodian Minister of Labor and Vocational Training H.E. Ith Samheng here on Monday, UN Resident Coordinator Claire Van der Vaeren said Cambodia has successfully fought against the spread of HIV/AIDS, but there has been no end point yet, therefore the country needs to continue her efforts.
For his part, Ith Samheng highlighted the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training’s attention to this issue by encouraging owners of factories and enterprises to join hand in combating the spread of HIV/AIDS.
According to an official report, Cambodia has currently over 700,000 people living with HIV/AIDS and some 500,000 of them are receiving antiretroviral treatment.
