PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald)—The Techo Flyover of 382 meters long, 15 meters wide, and 5.2 meters high will be put into temporary use on Nov. 21, 2015, said Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge (Chroy Changvar II) held here this morning, Premier Hun Sen said this flyover will be temporarily opened for public use to ease the traffic congestion during the upcoming Water Festival.
The construction of Techno Flyover, the fourth flyover in Phnom Penh capital city, along with an underpass under the Russian Federation Boulevard, connecting Mao Tse Tung Boulevard and Kim Il Sung Boulevard, began on Sept. 9, 2014 with a total cost of some US$14 million by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC).
In July this year, the 356-meter-long and 6-meter wide underpass was put into temporary use.
Phnom Penh has currently three flyovers – the Kbal Thnal Flyover along Preah Monivong Blvd. adjacent to Preah Monivong Bridge, the January 7 Flyover at the intersection of Pet Lok Sang (Monks’ Hospital) traffic lights, and the Stung Meanchey Flyover.Besides, the Phnom Penh Municipality is planning to build another overpass at Hanoi Street traffic lights, another underpass at Canadia traffic lights, and a pavement for pedestrians along the riverside, from tourism information center near the Royal Palace to Preah Monivong Bridge (Chbar Ampov).
