Prime Minister Hun Sen calls for the MFI to help farmers facing drought

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald)—Prime Minister Hun Sen today calls for the Micro-finance Institutions and local banks to extend payment for reduce interest rates for farmers whose crops have suffered of drought. 

Premier said that farmers have suffered of water shortages, causing the crops are not well harvested so the MFI and local banks shall not seize farmland for its clients for late payment.

Prime Minister Hun Sen on his Facebook post also ordered to national and sub-national level authorities to send out forces to help farmers especially widowers and persons with disabilities in harvesting the crops.

More importantly, the government leader also asked for authorities and Ministry of Agriculture of help pumping waters into villagers’ farmland to help farmers’ crops from damage.
